- Prof Richard R. Ernst, Nobel Laureate of 1991 in Chemistry, of
Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland was invited to give a
talk.
- Prof. S. K. Chauhan, Director, International Center for Genetic
Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi was invited to give a talk.

Prof N. R. Jagannathan Head NMR Group of All India Institute of Medical
Sciences, New Delhi was invited to give a talk.

- Dr. S. Kumar has an ongoing
collaboration with Prof H. -J. Schneider of University of Saarland,
Saarbruecken, Germany.

Structural Biology.

The Department supports
Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral Programmes by offering:

Major courses necessary for the degree of B. Sc. (Engineering) in
Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

Equipping students to enhance their presentation skills enriching Seminar
and Group Discussion component of courses.

Strong background in Basic concepts of structure of materials in
correlation to their Engineering properties.

Inter-disciplinary courses in other faculty, e.g. Biochemistry and
Physiology at Botany Department.

Research opportunities in the Structural aspects of Biological
macromolecules vis-à-vis their biological activity profiles.

Usage of the State-of-the-Art technologies in deciphering the Structure
with respect to the properties
The major focus of the Department:

Teaching: in the area of Materials Science and Engineering Chemistry.

Research: in Structural Biology of Biological Macromolecules
(Biomaterials) using 2D-NMR, UV, CD and Fluorescence spectroscopic,
molecular mechanical and computational techniques.
The Department is equipped with:

All facilities commensurate with U.G. Teaching and Practice.
High End PC’s and software for Molecular Modeling and Image Analysis have
been acquired.

PC-based workstation for simulating biological macromolecules.
