Prof. Hans Raj, is a Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department with more than 25 years of experience in teaching and research. He teaches Finite Element Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering Mechanics, Soft Computing Techniques and Computer Aided Design. His reaserch interests include Intelligent and Agile Manufacturing, Metal Forming Process Modeling and Optimization, Soft Computing Applications in Manufacturing and Evolutionary Optimization. He is an eminent researcher and has authored more than 106 research papers, 5 technical reports/ books/ monographs. He has completed several R&D projects (more than 17) and has provided consultacy to a number of government agencies including ADRDE and national /international companies. He has wide recognition in various Universities around the world and has visited more than 17 universities of international repute including University of Maryland, USA, University of North Carolina, USA, MIT, Boston, Western Michigan University, RPI, Troy, USA. As a Visiting Scientist he undertook collaborative research work at University of Kiel, Germany, CEMEF Laboratory, France, . He has hosted several national/international conferences and has chaired several sessions in a number of national/international conferences.

Some his research contributions include design of an Aerostat Winching and Mooring System for ADRDE (DRDO), detailed Finite Element Analysis of Air Inflatable Hemispherical Dome for ADRDE, detailed finite element analysis of hot extrusion of a transmission shaft, hot closed die forging of a piston and hot powder forming of a gear, application of Artificial Neural Networks (for the first time) to the modeling of orthogonal cutting, Upsetting and Extrusion processes; development of “Group Technology Cell Formation with Similarity Co-efficient, ART2, Competitive nets and Kohonen Map Neural network paradigms”; development of sensitivity analysis, Neuro-Fuzzy models and Evolutionary optimization techniques and application of the same to Intelligent Manufacturing systems and socio-economic systems; and Indigenous development of Friction Stir Welding Machine.

Professor Hans Raj has also won several awards/certificates of merit/appreciation/honours which include "Production Engineering Division Medals" for 1999 & 2000 and coveted "Institution medal"of Institution of Engineers (India) for the year 2001, “Academic Excellence Award”, Aerial Delivery Research and Development (ADRDE), DRDO, Agra for his long standing academic and research support to ADRDE, Certificate of Excellence by CEMEF Laboratory, France, Excellent Performance certificate by AICTE, DST, UGC, and Best paper awards in several international/ national conferences.

He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and a life member of several professional bodies including IE, ISAM, ISPE, ISME, SSI, ASI, ISCEE, ISTE. He is on panel of experts of several technical bodies including RDE (DRDO).He is also an Academic Expert for Human Space Flight Programme ISRO-ADRDE (DRDO) and Selection Committee Expert member for DRDO. Recently, he is also the Associate Editor of International Journal on Agile Manufacturing, USA.

2.      Dr. K. Hans Raj attended International Conference on Numerical Modelling of Industrial Forming Processes (NUMIFORM) at University of Technology, Troyes, France from 4th to 7th July. He chaired three technical sessions, presented an invited talk and a Key note address. During his talks on Finite Element Simulation of Selected Severe Plastic Deformation Processes he mentioned  the Objectives of Education at DEI, Vision-2031 and Consciousness Studies being carried out at DEI. He also visited various laboratories at University of Technology Troyes and had research interaction with Prof. Pascal Lafon, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department.

 

3.      Dr. K. Hans Raj, Chairman International Society of Agile Manufacturing has felicitated Prof. Jean-Loup Chenot with "Lifetime Achievement Award" and Dr. Lionel Fourment with "Fellow ISAM Award" on behalf of ISAM at the banquet of NUMIFORM 2016 at Troyes.
