List of Students Qualified for Gate 

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS - 2006

  • The UG students gave a good account of themselves in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) held in February 2006. More than 30 students qualified this year with Prem Piyush Goyal of Final Year Electrical securing 99.3 percentile in Computer Science. A very positive development this year was that as many as 23 students of Third Year qualified GATE. We do hope that with this experience they would perform even better next year.
  • Rohit Arora of Final Year Electrical has been selected for admission to MBA programmes at IIT Roorkee, Goa Institute of Management and Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management. Shalabh Kulshreshtha of Final Year Mechanical has obtained a percentile score of 98.25 in XAT 2006.
  • Prem Piyush Goyal and Kumar Vaibhav of the Final Year Electrical have been called for the Interview after having cleared the written test of the IIIT, Bangalore.
  • Gur Prasad Srivastava of Final Year Electrical won the I prize of Rs. 5000/- in Poster Presentation Session at Techkriti 2006 organized by IIT Kanpur. Shat Prateek Kalra also participated in the same.
  • Shat Prateek Kalra of Final Year Electrical won the Rs. 25,000 Best Design Proejct Award at IIT Delhi in SWDSD programme.
  • Kumar Vaibhav and Neeraj Singh of Final Year Eelctrical won the II Prize in National Level Technical Paper Presentation contest held at Hindustan College of Science and Technology in February, 2006.
  • Two students of the Final Year Electrical Engineering were awarded outstanding Grade in a training programme at SCL, Lucknow. 43 students from different institutions participated in this programme and only 4 were awarded outstanding grade.
  • Satyaravi Singh of Third Year Electrical won the Second Prize in Cerebrum 2006 a National level technical festival organized by Anand Engineering College, Agra.
  • Atul Gupta and Vineet Modi of Second Year Mechanical won the I Runner Up prize in Lathe Rhymes as part of the Annual National level contest Gyanjyoti, 2006 organized by HCST, Farah Mathura. Sankalp Garg and Mohit Agarwal won the 1st Prize Abhishek Srivastava and Tarunesh Mathur won the 2nd Prize in paper presentation competition in the same Festival.
  • Ravi Vashishta of Third Year Electrical won the Third Prize in an Essay Writing Competition organized by Rotary Club of Agra in September, 2005.
  • Apaar Kaura, Rahul Vashsihta and Ankit Sethi presented a paper on “Cell Phone Alert Module for Enhancement of Security Systems” at Cognizance 2006 oragnized by IIT Roorkee from March 31 to April 2, 2006.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS - 2007

  • The UG students gave a good account of themselves in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) held in February, 2007. A record number of 59 students qualified the exam in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Computer Science. Two students secured over 99 percentile. A very positive development this year was that as many as 25 students of Third Year qualified GATE. We do hope that with this experience they would perform even better next year.
  • Saurabh Parashar of III year Electrical Engineering was awarded a prize for his design in the International AVR Design Contest -2006 organized by Circuit Cellar Magazine, USA sponsored by M/s Amtel Corporation. This was an online contest in the field of Embedded Systems that was open to students and professionals all over the world.
  • Apoorva Narain of III Year Electrical Engineering has been selected as a non-Graduating student for Summer Research project at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore for a duration of 2 months. He would be working with Prof Sudha Natrajan on Online Video Processing System.
  • Ashish Shukla of IV year Electrical Engineering has been selected for Interview in the prestigious IIMs of Ahemdabad, Calcutta and Lucknow. Final result is awaited.
  • Ankit Sethi of Final Year Electrical has been selected in IMT Ghaziabad for the PG programme in Management.
  • Apoorva Kumar of Final Year Electrical has been selected for PG in ICFAI.
  • Tarunesh Mathur of Final Year Mechanical has been selected for PG in IIFT.
  • Vikram Singh Chauhan, Ankit Sethi, Ashish Shukla, Sumit Srivastava, Vivek Goyal and Nikhil Agrahari of Final Year have been called for interview to the prestigious NITIE, Mumbai for admissions to their different PG programmes.
  • Ravi Ranjan Kumar of Final Year Mechanical has been called for interview for admission to the MDES programme of the IISc, Bangalore and Mr Sagar Prashant under the CEED programme at IIT Bombay. 
  • Arsh Octania, Anup Pydah, M Dayal Saran and Amol Gupta of II year participated in Kshitiz 2007 at IIT Kanpur in February, 2007.
  • Mr Anupam Sharma of I year won the I prize in 200m and 400m races in the Inter-Faculty Competitions of DEI.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS - 2008

  • Apoorva Narain of IV Year Electrical Engineering was selected as a non-Graduating student for Summer Research project at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore for a duration of 2 months in May-June, 2007. He successfully completed the project on Online Video Processing System.
  • Mr. Anubhav Bhatnagar, IV year student underwent a distance internship with CEMEF Laboratories under the supervision of Dr. Lionel Fourment of CEMEF and Dr. K. Hans Raj of DEI.
  • Saurabh Parashar of Final Year Electrical Engineering scored 1420/1600 in G.R.E (Graduate Record Examination) in November 2007.
  • Nitin Sadana secured 98.41 percentile and Vikalp Sharma secured 98.41 percentile in the CAT exam held in December, 2007. Both have received calls from the prestigious National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai for their PGDIM programme.
  • Niraj Kumar Chaudhuri of III year has qualified the exam for Sun Certification as a Java Programmer 1.4. 
  • Saurabh Parashar, Anand Vardhan and Gaurav Mittal of Final Year Engineering won the I Prize of Rs 5000 in ‘Olymbiz’ event in Techkriti at IIT Kanpur.
  • Saurabh Parashar of Final Year Electrical Engineering is being considered for a full expense paid MS at Queens School of Computing, Ontario, Canada in the field of Image guided Surgical Robotics and Biomedical Computing.
  • Vikas Satsangi of IV year Electrical Engineering won the II prize of Rs 3000 in a National Level Essay Writing Competition organized by AMU, Aligarh. He also presented a paper in International Conference SPAWSYS-2008 held at DEI.
  • Achint Setia won the second prize in Robotics competition at Srijan 2k8 at Indian School fo Mines, Dhanbad.
  • Mayank Agarwal, 2nd year, Mechanical Engineering represented DEI in National Inter university debate competition organized by National Co-operative Society of India at Gandhinagar, Gujarat and won Consolation prize of Rs 1000/-.
  • Mayank Agarwal and Himanshu Singh, also of 2nd year, Mechanical Engineering represented DEI in inter university debate competition organized by Delhi University at Hansraj College, Delhi.
  • Himanshu Singh of II BSc Engineering represented UP in the 13th National Youth Festival held at Chennai from 12th to 16th January organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the aegis of the National Service Scheme.
  • Anup Pydah and Apoorva Bharadwaj of III Year and N Anurag Murty of II year were members of the UP contingent which participated in the National level Talent Identification & Exhibition Programme conducted at Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar from 9th to 11th January, 2008.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS - 2009

  • Several students performed well in the GATE – 2009 examinations held in February, 2009 and more than 6 students secured 95 percentile or above. Amol Gupta secured 19th All India Rank and Sachin Kumar Rawat secured 89th rank. Pawan Soami had secured All India Rank 8 in GATE 2008. Akhliesh Tripathi, Tarun Bansal and V Mehar Swarup also secured under 100 All India Ranks in GATE 2008.
  • Anurag Goyal of Final Year BSc (Engg.) has secured 99.36 percentile in the prestigious CAT examination held in November 2008. He has been called for interview to IIM Ahemadabad, IIT Delhi and other places. Tejas Malhotra, M Dayal Saran and Prateek Gupta also secured good percentile scores.
  • A paper entitled the Design and development of a Hand-based Biometric System was presented at the prestigious International Conference on Graphics, Vision and Image Processing held at Bhubaneswar in December, 2008 and was published by IEEE Computer Society Press. The paper emanated from a UG project carried out by Saurabh Parashar and Anand Vardhan under the supervision of Prof C Patvardhan, Prof PK Kalra and Prof V Prem Pyara.
  • Arsh Octania and Amol Gupta were selected for paid summer training in Texas Instruments and V Mehar Swarup was selected in Analog Devices. They received Internship of Rs 44000 each and Rs 32,000 respectively.
  • Achint Setia attended a 1 ½ month summer workshop with 32 participants from all over India on Computer Graphics and Vision at IIT Delhi and was awarded the Best design project award carrying a cash prize of Rs 12,500. 
  • Four students Achint Setia, Arsh Josan, Karan Kumar and V Mehar Swarup of Final Year BSc Engineering were selected for UG Research Award of Rs 10, 000 each instituted by the AADEIs. The highlight was that all the Awards went to Engineering Faculty in a DEI level Competition.
  • Anup Pydah, Arsh Octania, Tejas Malhotra, Ankit Bhatnagar and Arsh Josan of Final Year BSc (Engg.) participated in IIT Kanpur’s “Techkriti” and secured the 2nd Prize of Rs 8000/- in the Rube Goldberg Challenge. The event was highly competitive with 12 teams reaching the final round.
  • Abhimanyu Bhargava and Satyam Sharan won the 1st Prize of Rs 5000 in PRODESK 3.0, a product design competition organized by IIT Roorkee. They have been offered Summer Internship by G2DESIGN Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, sponsors of the competition.
  • Anup Pydah and Nitin Srivastav participated in the National Robotics Festival “Robokriti” organized at Hindustan College, Mathura and secured 2nd Prize of Rs 3000. The event involved designing a racing robotic vehicle.
  • Arsh Josan and Karan Kumar were awarded 1st Prize of Rs 3000/- in the All India Technical Paper presentation held at IIT Roorkee as part of their festival Cognizance 2009. Achint Setia and Himanshu Singh also won the Best Paper Presentation Award of Rs 2000/- at Technomania 2008 at Anand Engineering College, Agra. 
  • Arsh Josan won the 1st Prize of Rs 1000/- in State Level General Quiz Competition organized by Hindustan College of Science and Technology, Mathura. He also won the 1st prize in Electronic Design Contest.
  • Himanshu Singh and Mayank Agarwal represented DEI in a National Debate Competition held at AMU, Aligarh, and won the Third Prize of Rs 1000/- in January, 2009.
  • Himanshu Singh and Nitin Srivastav represented DEI at a National Symposium at Madurai in December, 2008.
  • Abhay Kumar Bhatt of I Year BSc (Engg) has completed Senior Diploma in Tabla and Senior Diploma in Indian Classical Vocal awarded by Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS - 2010

  • Several students performed well in the GATE – 2010 examinations held in February, 2010 with more than 37 students qualifying. 
  • Anuj Kumar completed 6 weeks summer training in summer of 2009 at Analog Devices Private Limited and received a stipend of Rs 28,000.
  • Ami Chandra, Anurag Murty and Sarabjeet Nagpal were selected to undergo 6 weeks practical training at IIT Delhi in the summer of 2009. Their performance was appreciated.
  • A paper by Abhimanyu Bhargava and Rohit Narula entitled “Autonomous Navigation of Robot” was selected for Poster Presentation in International Joint Conference ASR-NSC, 2009.
  • Rohit Narula, Abhimanyu Bhargava, Vaibhav Bhatnagar and Gautam Kumar received a certificate of appreciation for their presentation in Paritantra-2010.
  • Himanshu Singh of Final year won I prize in Elocution at North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival and the II prize at the National Inter-University Youth Festival at Rohtak. He was also adjudged the “Most Dynamic Youth” in Dynamic Youth Hunt by Youth Forum, Rohtak. Himanshu Singh also won I prize in National Inter-University Debate organized by National Council of Cooperative Training at Pune. His article has been selected in top 100 articles out of 30,000 entries in “Hai Baton Mein Dam” contest organized by Google.
  • Himanshu Singh also won I prize in “Kavyanjali” Poetry recitation contest at EUREKA organized by BMAS Engineering College and I prize in Knew-Tonnes Corporate Quiz at Technomania organized at Anand Engineering College, Agra.
  • Arvind Toshniwal attended a workshop at IITK on Advances in Combustion and Transportation.
  • Aayush Kumar Gupta and Daud Zaman Khan presented a Technical Paper in IT-BHU.

Students Achievements – 2011

  • A team from Faculty of Engineering participated in IEEE xTreme 24 hour online programming contest held in October 2011. More than 2000 teams participated worldwide and our team was ranked 171. Out of more than 600 teams from India, our team was ranked 4th.
  • Third Prize in skit in Inter-University North Zone Festival November, 2011.
  • Satyam Sharan and Nitin Srivastava won cash Prize Rs. 2000 in National technical paper presentation contest at Anand Engineering College, Agra, September, 2011.
