Her areas of research and interest are Organizational Behavior, Cognitive Psychology-Metacognition, Human Resource Management. She has constructed and standardized some scales:‘Work Culture Assessment Scale (WCAS); Metacognitive Thinking Scale (MTS); Acculturative Stress Assessment Scale (ASAS); Organizational Integration Scale (OIS); Organizational Justice Scale (OJS) and Emotional Suffocation/ Ventilation Scale (ES/VS).
The Department of Psychology has a humble beginning as an Undergraduate Department of the erstwhile (D.E.I.) Women's Training College (affiliated to Agra University) in the year 1951, which was upgraded to Postgraduate level in 1969. With the establishment of the Dayalbagh Educational Institute as a Deemed University in the year 1981, the D.E.I. Women's Training College merged into its Faculties as a Constituent College and the Department of Psychology automatically acquired the status of a University Department.
The Ph.D. Programme was started in the Institute and the Department in 1986 which gave impetus to the research activities of the Department. The Department gave priority to research activities by way of organization of UGC funded National Level Seminars (1984, 1985, 1989, and 1994) and International Level Seminar (2008) inviting eminent researches and experts as Visiting Fellows/ Faculties; restarting the publication of Research Journal of Psychology and Education; participation of teaching faculty, research scholars and PG students in Seminars, Conferences, Symposia and Research Publications in Indian and Foreign Journals.
Apart from this, the PG and UG Courses were thoroughly upgraded and revised towards the achievement of high academic goals. Many students of the Department have excelled themselves by achieving success in NET and JRF and / or securing for themselves Research Fellowships from UGC, ICSSR and BPR & D (Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI) for their Ph.D. Research Projects.
Students have participated in National and International seminars/ conferences and have earned the honour of being awarded with "Young Scientist Award" carrying Cash Award, Certificates, Best Paper Award and fellowship for further research.
All those who have earned the Ph.D. degree from this department are working in gainful jobs as scientists, lecturers, officers etc. One UGC-funded major project and six minor projects have been completed. More than four hundred papers (or contributed chapters) published in National and International journals of repute and books are to the credit of teaching faculty of the department. Many were assessed as the best paper. The teaching faculty of this department regularly contribute and present research papers to all important national and international seminars/conferences and are often invited to chair scientific sessions and as Resource persons and for invited talks and lecturers.
At present there are 3 Professor Emeritus, 1 Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 technician and 1 lab attendant in the Department. The Department is currently being headed by Prof. Kamaljeet Sandhu. The thrust areas of study and research in the Department of Psychology are Clinical Psychology, Environmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology and Organizational Behavior etc.
