The Leather Working School, started in 1930, gives instructions in both theory and practice for manufacture of leather goods. There are competent staff member teaching Diploma classes besides some experts comes from the footwear industry to teach and conduct Labs. Library facility is available to all the students with periodicals, catalogues, magazines and teaching books. The LCD Display facilities with audio system are available in Lecture rooms and the department is having well organized labs

Future Plans for Expansion

Under consideration to start Degree course in Footwear and Leather Goods Technology.

M.O.U's

The department has signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Central Leather Research Institute, chennai who have given somefinancial help under HRD scheme to set up a Testing Lab. Besides this the department has also recived a project under MODROBS scheme for setting up a CAD/CAM Lab for footwear   designing.
