ThisDepartment has played a leading role in evolving a curriculum based on the industrial needs and served as a role model for many similar institutes in the country. Over the years, interaction with industry and the emphasis on applied engineering has increased. The Department has completed two MODROB’s major projects in the last few years to develop the state of the art Thermal Engineering Laboratory and Material Sciences Laboratory with the help of AICTE. A new MODROB’s Project has been recently sanctioned for Mordoanization of Applied Mechanics Laboratory and Mechanical Work Shop. An elective course on Mechatronics was also introduced recently in accordance to the industrial demands.

The department has an intake capacity of 60 students per year in Diploma in Engineering. It subsequently introduced various Certificate Vocational Programmes namely Welder, Turner and Fitter etc from the year 2005 in order to cater industrial skilled manpower demand. Department is also running these courses in Distance Education Mode at the different study centers all over the country duly approved by DEC, Govt. of India.
