The plenary talks were delivered by Prof. P.K. Kalra, Director IIT Rajasthan, Prof. Karmeshu, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof. A.L.Agarwal, President, Association for Transport Development in India, Prof. Peter Roe, Director International Programs, University of Waterloo, Prof. George Klir, Professor Emeritus, State University of New York at Binghamton and Dr. Kirsty Kitto, Queensland University of Technology, Australia. The tutorial talks were delivered by Prof. D. Anand Rao, President DEI-Dayalbagh Chapter of SSI and Ms. Mukti Srivastava, Student Member of SSI at Dayalbagh along with Mr. Anoop Srivastava, Research Scholar DEI. There were 126 paper and poster presentations spread over 13 sessions including the poster session. The culmination of the conference was the Panel Discussion on Retrospectives and Prospectives of the Systems Movement with profound ideas expressed by stalwarts in the field which will impart a new impetus to the systems movement.

 The Valedictory talk was delivered by Mr. B.P. Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., one of the foremost power companies in the world. In the Valedictory Function, the Best Paper Presenters of each session were presented with Young Systems Scientist Awards by ASR-NSC 2009 Organizing Committee. The winners were :

Third Indian Students Systems Conference

and Inauguration of

QUANTUM-NANO SYSTEMS CENTRE

DEI RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY PARK

 

PARITANTRA 2010, Third Indian Students Systems Conference was organized on March 8, 2010 at the newly established Quantum-Nano Systems Centre in the DEI Research and Technology Park, modeled on the lines of Research and Technology Park at University of Waterloo, with a mandate to foster radical innovation. In the words of Prof. David Johnston, President, University of Waterloo, "It takes just one person to have an idea, but the ideas come faster and more frequently when talented people come together to sharpen each other's insights and pool their expertise. This is what the Research and Technology Park provides - a community for innovation." The facility was Inaugurated by Revered Prof. P.S. Satsangi, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Education, Dayalbagh Educational Institutions by unveiling the Inaugural Plaque.

 

PARITANTRA 2010 featured paper and poster contributions from students at other DEI Chapters of the Society located all over the country in various Distance Education centres. There were 61 oral presentations in 6 sessions and a poster session and the conference witnessed several hours of buzzing activity in all aspects of systems studies with a wide spectrum of topics being discussed.

The Valedicotry Talk entitled “System theory as an academic discipline: some reminiscences” was delivered by Prof. H.K. Kesavan, Founder Chairman, Dept. of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo.
