Asst. Prof. Parul Bhatnagar has wide and varied experience in the teaching, research and management on Indian textiles and costumes, organising textile exhibitions, designing Syllabus and course curriculum for various Institutes and universities, she has extensive documentation of Indian Textiles besides creating a digital library of designs. She has studied the traditions and lifestyle of the people of India and has an intimate knowledge and grasp of the multifarious diversity of India. She teaches Traditional textiles, Design Development and Management, has completed a UGC minor research project successfully besides guiding 164 design projects.

Dr Meenakshi Thakur is teaching Applied Art and History of Art in the Department. Workshop/Programmes Organized (2021-2025)

  1. Organized  the National Sculpture Camp- A Ten day National Workshop on Sculpture Camp was organized by the Department of Drawing and Painting. (21.Dec-30.DEC.2021) in which four Sculptors have participated, Mr. Sanul Kannamkulangara, Thrissur, Kerala, Mr Deepak Rsaily, Baroda, Gujart, Mr. Yogesh Kumar Prajapati, Jalandhar, Punjab and Ms. Sonika Mann, Chandigarh.
  2. Being the HEAD, done the beautification of Anupam Upvan through series of  Folk Wall Paintings by the students of Department of Drawing and Painting.(11.1-5.04.2022).From January to April 2022, students from the Department of Drawing and Painting created 98 wall paintings to beautify the upcoming Tagore Cultural Center at Anupam Upavan, as part of Dayalbagh Educational Institute’s plans.
  3. A Annual Art Exhibition “RANGAWALI” Lalit kala ka Indradhanush was organized by Department of Drawing and Painting on 19th to 20th April, 2022 which was inaugurated by Mr. Vikas Kumar,IPS,SP City, Agra.
  4.  Organized the Digital Exhibition in Commemoration of “Veer Bal Diwas”on 26th December 2022- organized a digital exhibition in commemoration of “Veer Bal Diwas” on 26th December 2022 to honor the martyrdom of Baba Fateh Singh and Baba Zorawar Singh, the Sahibzade of 10th Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The event was a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’(AKAM) under the aegis of Ministry of Culture. Dr. Meenakshi Thakur, HoD, Drawing & Painting facilitated the event.
  5. Organized the National Workshop “Anupam Prastar Srajanotsav” Sculpture Camp 2022-The Department of Drawing and Painting organized a 10 days National Workshop “Anupam Prastar Srajanotsav” Sculpture Camp 2022 from 19th to 28th December 2022, under the Chief Patronship of Prof. P.K. Kalra, Director, DEI. Four learned subject experts and eminent sculptors from different states namely Mr. Ravi Mishra from Jaipur, Rajasthan, Mr. Sujit Kumar Karan from West Bengal, Mr. Sanjay Rajwar from M.S. University, Vadodara, Mr. Shiv Kumar Verma from Vadodara and Dr. Lucky Tonk from D.E.I. demonstrated their creative genius giving beautiful forms to their abstract ideas in massive stones 5. Workshop on Folk Wall Painting
  6. Workshop on Folk Wall PaintingThe Department of Drawing and Painting organized a 10 days “Workshop on Folk Wall Painting” from 19th to 28th December 2022. Dr. Sonika was the convener of the workshop. About 20 scholars and 120 other students of the department participated in Folk wall painting.Themes related to Value-based Education and Indian Culture were executed in different folk styles on the wall of about 50 mts. Length in DEI main campus.
  7. The Department of Drawing & Painting, B.Voc. Textile Designing organized a 2 days Workshop on Fabric painting & Dhokra art, Collaboration with fevicryl (Pidilite), from January 9th to 10th, 2023. About 75 students of the department participated in the Fabric painting. Artist demonstrated their creative genius giving beautiful forms to fabric painting and Dhokra art.
  8. Workshop on Wall Mural Art -The Department of Drawing and Painting organized a 20 days “Workshop on Wall Mural Art” from 25th Jan. to 20th Feb. 2023. Dr. Namita Tyagi was the convener of the workshop. About 65 BFA students of the department participated in Wall Mural Art.
  9. A Talk by an Artist-An eminent sculptor Mr. Sanjay Rajwar from M.S. University, Vadodara, delivered an engaging talk focusing on creative thinking and its artistic execution showcasing his own fabulous Artworks on 26th December 2022 in the Department of Drawing andPainting.
  10. The Department of Drawing and Painting organized the event “ MERI MAATI MERA DESH’ campaign under which pottery and sculpture making competition was organized from 9th to 15th Aug 2023, In which 35 students have participated.
  11.  Kalash decoration program organized in Department of Drawing and Painting under Campaign “Meri Mati Mera Desh” Kalash decoration program was organized under the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” campaign on 7th October 2023 at Dayalbagh Educational Institute (DEI). This program was sponsored by Lalit Kala Akademi, Regional Centre, Lucknow in collaboration with the Department of Drawing and Painting of DEI. 22 students of Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) of the department participated in this program. Shri Venugopal Parashar coordinated the program as an observer from Lalit Kala Akademi, Regional Centre, Lucknow.
  12. Department of Drawing and Painting had organized Poster making and Slogan competition during medical camp,on 11th December 2023, for the celebration of Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav.
  13. A two-day workshop and lecturewas organized in the Department of Drawing & Painting, Faculty of Arts, Dayalbagh Educational Institute, (Deemed to be University) Dayalbagh, Agra, September 13th and 14th, 2024.In the workshop, emerging contemporary Indian artist Mr. Sanjay Kumar Raj, who came from Lucknow, displayed his beautiful artworks and gave a live demonstration of some artworks. Sanjay Kumar’s art style is based on the elements of nature. He shared the nuances of art with the students present in the workshop by drawing pictures using acrylic paint on canvas, watercolor on paper and digital painting medium. The workshop was organized by the Head of the Department, Dr. Meenakshi Thakur. A total of 126 students, including B.F.A., M.A, and research students, benefited from the workshop and were eager to closely incorporate the elements of nature in art.
  14. Being member of the organizers committee of the Painting Exhibition and Competition held on January 17, 2025, at Baikunthi  Devi Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Agra. Organized by Sanskar Bharati, Agra Mahanagar, the event honored Padma Shri Yogendra Ji’s 101st birth anniversary, celebrating artistic excellence and creativity.
  15. The Department of Drawing and Painting, B.Voc. Textile Designing, in collaboration with Fevicryl (Pidilite), organized a two-day workshop on Indian Art Forms (Lippan Art), Home Décor, and Tie & Dye Bags on February 17th and 18th, 2025. A total of 40 students actively participated in the workshop, showcasing their creativity and artistic skills. The workshop provided hands-on experience, where artists demonstrated intricate techniques of Lippan Art, a traditional Indian mural art form, along with innovative designs in home décor and tie & dye bags, inspiring students to explore and enhance their artistic expressions.
  16.  A two day Digital Art Workshop cum Competition was organized on 8th & 9th April, 2025 at the Department of Drawing andPainting, Faculty of Arts, Dayalbagh Educational Institute, (Deemed to be University) Dayalbagh, Agra. The workshop was thoughtfully divided into two dynamic sessions. The first session focused on a practical lecture and learning segment where students got an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and advanced techniques in the field of digital art using the XP Pen tablet. Mr. Anubhav Sharma (Digital Artist) shared his expertise, providing unique perspectives and practical insights that enriched the students’ understanding of artistic expressions. After the lecture, the event turned into an exciting competition where 44 participants showcased their creativity. The event concluded with the announcement of exciting prizes. The main objective of the workshop cum competition was to familiarize the students with the recent trends in digital design technology to enhance their creative artist journey.
