Joined erstwhile REI degree College: 1978 as Instructor, Lecturer in 1989, and Senior Lecturer in 1994 Reader in1999, Associate Professor in 2009 and Professor in 2010-onwards. 

Area of Interest: Parasitology, Microbiology, Ecology, Environmental Parasitology, Immunology, Advances in Parasitology, Advance Techniques in Molecular Parasitology, Vector Control Biotechnology and Molecular Parasitology, Nano-biotechnology, consciousness and Quantum Biology

Projects Sanctioned: 8 Major projects awarded from DST, UGC, and AICTE 

Published:62 research articles in International and National journals.

Supervised: PhDs. – 8 Thesis, MPhil - 24 dissertations, MSc - 70 dissertations.

Awards and Honours: Prof. Soam Prakash has been honored to deliver a keynote lecture in Nanotech France conference in Paris in June 2017, 2019. IASR announced Soam Prakash (co-author) among the World’s 500 Most Influential Biotechnologists for Year 2015 on Earth. They earned Ronald Ross Award-2015 in Vector Control Biotechnology for the paper "Different geometrical AgNPs for vector control and their added value of antibacterial activity" published in Journal of Parasitology. He has been listed as one of the Top 100 Scientists of the year recognized by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England. U.K. in 2015. He was also conferred with James P. Joules award(2015) for his outstanding research work.He has delivered a plenary lecture and chaired opening session on Vector Control in 2012 in Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He has also delivereda plenary lecture at Chennai in 2011 in Congress of Parasitology, acted as jury for Young Scientist Award. He has been honoured with “Scientist of the Year” award in 2006 by National Environmental Science Academy. He has been honoured to chaired a session with Dr. D. Lobo, Regional Director, WHO in the Annual  Conference of the Indian Society for Malaria and other Communicable Diseases  11th – 13th February, 2006 at Central  JALMA Institute for Leprosy & Other Mycobacterial Diseases (ICMR)Agra. He has also delivered a lecture on the topic “Chitinase in Vector Control: An Analysis” in that conference. He received several other awards like “Scientist of the Year” Awardin 2006 by National Environmental Science Academy,“Golden Man of the Year”Award by the International Success Awareness Society, New Delhi India, 2005. at New Delhi., “Vijay Ratan” Year Award by the India International Friendship Society, New Delhi, 2005 at Cannought Hotel New Delhi for acknowledging his service in Science as well as in Society. He was honored with the Best Teacher Awardat I.I.SC. Bangalore in 1994 in orientation programme. In 1986 he was presented with the “best research paper award” by NESA in a National convention, and “Best Paper presentation Award” by NSA in1984

Course Co-ordinator: Prof. Soam Prakash has been coordinating the paramedical courses like Nursing Aides (1 year), Midwifery (6 months), and Companion help for Old and Infirm (6 months) for which the certificates are been provided to the qualifying students.

Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) NCBI: The gene expression of Listeria monoctogenes in monoculture and co-culture state in the presence of Bacillus subtilis as planktonic cells and in biofilm 2011 has been submitted to Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), NCBI by Dr. Prem Saran T and Prof. Soam Prakash. This work was part of the PhD thesis of Dr. Prem Saran T. He is currently the Principal Investigator (SERB-DST – Young Scientist Scheme)  

International/ National Conference Organized by Prof. Soam Prakash namely  “International Conference on Environmental Parasitology and Community Health Care Initiatives (ENPARACOHI)” in Oct, 13-15, 2007; National Conference on Biochemical Science and Environment and Health in 2003; and Organised a three day seminar for Indian scientist on Environmental technology and toxicology, in Dayalbagh Educational Institute, to spread an awareness of applications of state-of-the-art technologies of Environment and health problems.Prof. Soam Prakash has coordinated the INDO-US Workshop on “Evaluation of Mental Health and Recent Advancements” on 10th January, 2018 in Faculty of Science, DEI with collaboration of foreign delegates including Prof. Charles Lindsey from University of Wisconsin (OSHKOSH), USA and Dr. Tulsi Das DISCC, Varanasi, India.

International Meet on “Towards  the Science of Consciousness” in June15-17, 2015  to present   the research paper in Helsinki (France); USA-2014 - International Meet on “Towards the Science of Consciousness” in April-21-27, 2014 to present   the research paper.; USA-2012 - International Meet on “Towards  the Science of Consciousness in April-14-19 April,2012  to present   the research paper  and delivered lecture in  Princeton University, Johnson Medical School  at New Jersey and Stony Brook Medical School, New York.; USA-2000 - Delivered lectures at various Universities, Chicago, Maryland etc.; Valent Biosciences has offered for collaborative research and lectured at various prestigious universities and Medical schools in new jersey and New York; United Kingdom (England)-1984 - Presented a paper in International Conference in Toxicology at University of Surrey and lectured at several research institutions and universities i.e., Cambridge, Surrey, Southampton, London etc. University of Surrey and International Institute of Toxicology, University of Cambridge, Southampton, London and Commonwealth Institute of  Entomology.

Societal Projects- Community Health Care Initiatives: Prof Soam Prakash has accomplished societal projects like Laboratory testing of “Insecticides Treated Nets”. (R.S. Sabha); Testing of Ocimum sanctum extract as a mosquito repellent in the laboratory. (SNC, Dayalbagh); and Testing of Reetha as larvicides. (RS Sabha, Dayalbagh)

Frontline Courses Introduced: M. Phil in Molecular Parasitology; Advances in Parasitology M. Sc.; Designed and introduced a course on "Environmental Parasitology” in the M.Sc. final. This was the first course of its kind to be introduced in the country; Quantum biology; Bioethics and Consciousness studies
