Shri. Vijay Prakash Malhotra is Sr Lecturer and Head, Department of Automobile Engineering, Technical College. After completing his school and college level education from Bombay, he did his B.Sc. in Engg (Mech.) from the erstwhile D.E.I. Engineering College, Agra University in 1984. He first joined The Model Industries Ltd, Dayalbagh as Production Manager, in which capacity he served until 1988. There, he was responsible for manufacture and quality control of machinery spares for bulb industry namely, Hind Lamps Ltd, Shikohabad and HMT Ltd, Hyderabad and also for job work of Aerial Delivery R&D Establishment, Agra a DRDO. He joined D.E.I. thereafter as Lecturer in the Department of Automobile Engineering where he became Sr Lecturer & Head in the year 2010.

ErVijay PrakashMalhotra has contributed significantly to the advancement of the department by successfully spearheading several new initiatives. One such self-financing venture was the setting up of the Automobile Service Repair & Training Centre (ASR&TC) attached to the Department of Automobile Engineering which not only caters to service and repair of vehicles of the Institute and the general public but also enables the students to get hands-on experience in their field of study. The first ever vocational course to be launched in the distance mode from DEI was the Certificate program in Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Four-wheeler). Presently, the program is being offered at 22 locations nationwide and one overseas at Colombo in Sri Lanka. He designed and jointly coordinated preparation of the study material for the Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Four-wheeler) program. He is also the Coordinator of the One-year Certificate program in Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Two-wheeler) and Diploma Vocational – Automobile Sector (Specialization - Engine Testing) offered under the AICTE approved National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF) of the MHRD, GoI. He led negotiations which culminated in signing of Memoranda of Understanding with Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Gurgaon; India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd, Surajpur; and, TVS Motor Cmpany Ltd, Hosur forupdatingtraining facilities and knowledge & skills of staff & students and better placement of students. He is the College Coordinator of the grand DEI VISION 2031 Plan which envisages DEI as a top teaching and research University in the world by 2031. He is a member of various committees, both technical and administrative, of DEI and R.S. Sabha, constituted to review, advise, or investigate matters. He coordinated placements in Technical College for nearly 20 years whence the placement percentage increased from a trickle to nearly 85-90%. He has attended/presented papers at several national and international Seminars/Conferences/Workshops.
