The nucleus of Commerce education is the accounting and financial analysis and modeling of real life decision situations. Department of Accountancy & Law cater exactly to this ever growing area under the aegis of Faculty of Commerce, with 5 Professors, 3 Assistant Professors. The department offers B.Com. (Hons), B.Voc. (Accounting and Taxation), M.Com (General) M.Com. (International Business), M.Phil and Ph.D.

Department is contributing significantly to impart most up-to-date and quality education to its students. The department places high degree of importance to research activities as well. So far, 36 Ph.D. have been successfully completed in the department and 33 Ph.D. are ongoing. The department has undertaken and successfully completed 2 Major UGC Projects (one completed and one ongoing) and 3 Minor UGC Projects. 8 Research Scholars of the department are qualified JRF, 19 have qualified UGC-NET and 10 research scholars have been awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship.

Alumni of the department are expressively performing in Multinational Corporations, placed at higher positions abroad, are rank holders in Chartered Accountant Examinations, Company Secretaries Examinations and other Competitive Examinations.

To impart relevant quality education considering the present day needs, the department offers various work based vocational courses in the area of Tax Planning and Management, Computer Applications in Accounting etc.

Department organized 2-day National Seminar on Global Business Reforms in March 2004, 2-day National Workshop on Changing Scenario of Commerce Curriculum in March 2008, 1-Day National Workshop on Contemporary Areas and Methods of Research in Accounting, Finance and Taxation on 21st December 2014, 1-Day National Workshop on Accountancy and Law Curriculum in Changing Scenario on 15th February 2015,

Department also organised 15-Days Training Programme on Accounting Software Tally for B.Com Students from 25-3-15 to 10-04-15, in addition to this, Department organised One Month Training Programme on Accounting Software Tally for B.Com Students from 01-02-2016 to 02-03-16.
