B.VoC. Programme in Tourism and Hospitality Management

It is known that in past few years the tourism industry has emerged as a major industrial area with immense possibilities within the country. Statistics show that the contribution of tourism industry to GDP is 9.6. The glorious door of Fatehpur Sikri and Taj Mahal of Agra is a world famous monument. Due to this, the visit of the country and the foreign tourists in this area remains very much. As well as being connected to Bah, Braj region and Dayalbag, there are also opportunities for spiritual and cultural tourism in this area.

But unfortunately, this entire area is not an institution of national importance capable of meeting the needs of the tourism industry. Dayalbagh Educational Institute is well known for its value system and quality. In recent years Dayalbagh Educational Institute has earned national recognition in the field of skill courses. To meet the needs of the tourism industry and the lack of skilled human resources, Dayalbagh Educational Institute has started B.Voc course in the field of 'Tourism and Hospitality Management' from July 2018.

Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Tourism and Hospitality Management is a graduate level program with the objective to provide adequate knowledge and skills related to Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management for employment and entrepreneurship.

 Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc - Tourism and Hospitality Management) is a three year Degree program with multiple exits such as Diploma /Advanced Diploma relating to tourism, travel and Hospitality. The course would provide adequate knowledge and skills for employment in the industry.

The student will have flexibility by means of multiple exit points.

Curriculum details would include a suitable mix of general education and skill development which are designed for  specific job roles in tourism and hotel industries. The course includes content which equip skill development component in the candidate. Each year includes practical as well as theory courses which impart appropriate and relevant knowledge of the industry. The candidate will be exposed to project work and on the job training in the industry so as to become ready to work in the tourism industry.

Eligibility criteria:

The eligibility condition for admission to B.Voc  programme shall be 10+2 or equivalent, in any stream.

Job Prospects:

The travel and tourism industry, along with the related sectors contributing to it, is expected to grow in leaps and bounds in the coming years. A job in this industry can be highly exciting and adventurous and even pays well. In India, the travel industry hopes to create 46 million job opportunities by 2025. Though it was slow to take off in this country, the government's initiatives in this field are uncovering a bright future for those who want to make a career in this field.

India's potential in the field of travel and tourism is hardly close to being fulfilled. The country is a geographical anomaly, having almost all the geographical features available. According to a report published by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), India could possibly add another Rs. 8, 50,000 crores by the year 2020-just through tourism! WTTC calculated that tourism generated 8.31 lakh crore or 6.3 per cent of the nation's GDP in 2015 and supported 37.315 million jobs, which is about 8.7 per cent of its total employment.
