
Dr V. P. Pyara is Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering Department. Immediately after graduation from DEI Engineering College with honours (80% marks) and Chancellor’s Bronze medal for being one of the best all-rounder, he joined Gujarat State Fertilizer Corporation as a trainee for a period of six months. Later, he worked with M/S Larsen & Toubro Ltd as a Graduate Engineer Trainee for approximately one and a half years where he was involved in design and development of Electronic Systems. Prior to joining DEI Faculty of Engineering in the year 1983, he did his Ph.D from IIT Delhi in the area of Electronics/Signal Processing. He teaches Basic Electrical engineering, Basic Electronics, Network Analysis, Linear Electronics, Digital Electronics, EMF Theory, Microprocessors, Power Electronics, Signal and Systems, Electronic Design, Digital Signal Processing, Communication Engg. Microprocessor Based System Design, Microelectronic Circuit Design, Electronic Devices, Analog Circuit Design and several laboratory courses. His research interests include Electronics and Digital Signal Processing. He has published numerous papers in various journals including Proceedings of IEE and IEEE Transactions, national and international conferences. He has also reviewed a number of papers for IEEE. In the year 2000, he organized a National Seminar (SASESC) in the Faculty of Engineering DEI and was the chief Editor of the Proceedings of the same. Apart from teaching undergraduate and post graduate courses and supervising research, Prof. Pyara, as Chief Coordinator of Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC), conducts several short term courses for the benefit of students as well as industry-personnel. Of late, IIPC has also undertaken the task of providing practical training to the undergraduate students during summers. He is a life member of IETE (India), System Society of India and Indian Society for Technical Education.
