Dr. Sanjay Srivastava is Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering with more than 35 years in teaching and 30 years in research. His teaching is devoted to Industrial Engineering and Project Management in undergraduate studies, and Industrial Kinesiology and Biomedical Engineering in postgraduate studies (master and doctoral). His research interests include Ergonomics, Biomedical Engineering, Occupational Health, Consciousness Studies, and Computational Intelligence. Dr. Srivastava has published several research papers in peer- reviewed journals, book series, and conference proceedings. His more recent JCR-indexed publications have appeared in WORK: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment & Rehabilitation (IOS Press), International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics (Taylor & Francis), Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation (IOS Press), Applied Soft Computing (Elsevier), and International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems (Atlantic Press). Dr. Srivastava has been in the selection committee of organizations of repute as an external expert. He has been on the review board of international conferences, JCR-indexed journals, and book-series. Dr. Srivastava has visited esteemed universities across the globe including NTU, Singapore and University of Auckland, New Zealand. He has carried out an assortment of research projects funded by prestigious agencies of GOI. He has delivered invited talks and chaired sessions in exalted national and international forums.

Dr. Ishant Singhal is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. He received his bachelor's, a doctoral degree from DEI, and a master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. His research interests are in 3D printing, Additive manufacturing, and geoinformatics. He is willing to take research problems in different areas. He believes that research in interdisciplinary fields has ample potential and creates wide opportunities for research. He has taught Engineering Mechanics, Structural Analysis I, Structural Analysis II, and geomatics. He has published papers in peer-reviewed journals, book series, and conference proceedings. He has also filled Indian patents. He is a member of various teams of the institute. He is also the course coordinator for MOOCs IIRS-ISRO. He has received grants from various agencies such as MoE, AICTE, and TEQIP III for R&D projects. He has received medals for securing the highest marks in B.Tech. (DEI) and M.Tech. (IITD).

Mr. Jinshad U. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering with an experience over 8 years in both academic and industry. He completed his bachelor’s in civil engineering from CET Trivandrum and currently holds a post graduate degree in Structural Engineering from NIT Calicut. His research interests include stiffened plate, engineered bamboo and PCM encapsulated structures. He has carried out research projects sponsored by MoE and TEQIP. He handles advanced courses in Civil Engineering such as Computer Aided Design, Bridge Engineering and Earthquake Resistant Design. Through his professional experience in the construction industry, he has designed structures in concrete and steel using latest softwares and tools. He is a former Director of B8 Engineers and Contractors Pvt Ltd and one of the founders of the training institute AIREC – Academy for Industrial Research and Engineering Consultancy. He is also a life member of several professional bodies.

He has nine years of teaching experience in academia, and teaches Transportation Engineering, Surveying, Concrete Technology, and Irrigation Engineering.He wasAssistant Professor in IEC College of Engineering & Technology Greater Noida, from 2014 to 2018. Selected in TEQIP III Project (2018) for the post of Assistant Professor (an initiative by National Project Implementation Unit, MHRD Govt. of India). Mr. Randeep Lohra completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Kurukshetra University and subsequently obtained his master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering and Underground Structures from the esteemed National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur. He demonstrated exceptional academic prowess by successfully clearing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) on three occasions, specifically in the years 2014, 2017, and 2019. Notably, he was honored with the MHRD fellowship during his pursuit of a Master of Technology (M. Tech) degree.

His scholarly interests revolve around the realms of Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Engineering, with a focused exploration of subjects like Ground Improvement, Soil Stabilization, and Rammed Earth Construction.

 

Since his affiliation with DEI (Dayalbagh Educational Institute), he has been actively engaged in the field of education. He imparts knowledge in subjects such as Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, and Geomatics, contributing significantly to the academic enrichment of his students.

 

Projects based learning

The unique feature of the B. Tech curriculum at DEI is that the students complete multiple projects right from the first year.

Work Experience Courses (WEC)

This course for 2nd year students is meant to get hands on skill in maintenance of structures maintenance and repair of buildings. Students are expected to select a building of historical or architectural significance and identify the current problems of the structure with regards to the age. The students themselves come up with innovative ideas that help in the maintenance of the structure. This is then submitted to relevant authorities for further action.

Practical Training (EGC382)

The Practical Training is a short duration summer program after the completion of the 1^st year. The program is primarily aimed towards exposing students to industry practices.

 

Product Manufacturing Project - PMP (EGC381)

An engineering student should be capable of designing projects to solve engineering problems. The Product Manufacturing Project course for 2nd year students explores the student’s intellect and building skills to create engineering systems or products considering the technical feasibility and financial viability.

 

Design Engineering/ Theme Development Project – DETD (EGC581)

Design Engineering/ Theme Development Project – DETD (EGC581) for 3rd year students to Design Engineering Concept and Theme development of real-life industrial problems. A problem statement is defined based on the need, followed by product analysis and design. All feasibility studies with regards to physical realizability, technical feasibility, industrial/social acceptability and economic viability are conducted.

Practical Training (EGC582)

This practical training in held at the end of the 2^nd year where students undergo practical training in different industries allotted to them at different industries for a period of 30 days. The Civil Department has extended the program to include a survey camp where students conduct a survey of the agricultural fields and other designated areas of the institute with the latest equipment such as Total Station and DGPS. Besides field observations, the students are also trained in the preparation of topographical, contour maps.

 

CO-OP Training (EGC781)

At the end of 3^rd year, the students undergo a five month in various reputed organizations / Industries to get exposure to the latest work culture of industries and handling projects related to productions and industrial R&D. The students are usually paid a stipend or provided with non-financial support. Students on the other hand gain immensely through an extended on-the-job understanding of how academic principles are applied in real situations and an opportunity to test the skills learnt in the classroom. The interaction and feedback from returning students and participating organisations allows the University to enhance and improve its curriculum. The students are sometimes offered a job offer at the end of the training course and the institute provides necessary flexibility to complete their degree program through distant mode.

Rural Engineering Project (RDC781)

This final year course is meant to implement the knowledge gained through the course related to village industries and entrepreneurship and small-scale industries. The students get a better understanding of the rural needs opportunities in the rural sector

 

Major Project (CEH701 and CEM802)

In the final year, students in groups of 3 or 4 undertake project work under the guidance of a supervisor. The project is usually focussed in different areas of specialization such as structural, geomatics, geotechnical, transportation, construction technology and management, building materials, etc.  Students review the literature to search for technical information from various resources on selected problem and formulate the appropriate solution methodology.

Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering at Faculty of Engineering, Dayalbagh Educational Institute. Since its inception in 2013, the Department is committed towards the academic and professional enrichment of students, service to the engineering community and society, and encourages advancements in Civil Engineering and allied fields. The Department has a well-defined academic program, dynamic young faculty, state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities and an active industry-institute interaction.

The Department currently offers B.Tech. in Civil Engineering, M.Tech. in Engineering Systems, and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Specializations in Architectural Technology and Computer Science are also offered in the undergraduate program. Department offers an innovative curriculum with project-based learning to cater to the needs of industry and academia.

Besides academic enrichment of students, the program also emphasizes on teamwork, communication skills, entrepreneurial skills, tools and skills for professional practice and lifelong learning. We strive to ensure that our graduates understand professional ethics and the value of service to their profession and society.

The Department is involved in various research projects from prestigious government agencies like DST, AICTE & MOE. It is also engaged in industrial consultancy of organization of repute such as Agra Smart City, U.P. Jal Nigam, U.P. State Tourism Corporation, and Indian Railways. The Department is continually upgrading itself in terms of academic programs and research infrastructure.
