Institute-Industry Collaboration: Visit by AFMEC Delegation
In alignment with the Institute’s commitment to fostering strong Institute-Industry partnerships, a key element in preparing students for real-world industry demands, the institute invited a delegation from the Agra Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Chamber (AFMEC), a prominent representative of the Agra footwear industry.
The delegation was led by Mr. Puran Dawar, President of AFMEC and Chairman of the Dawar Group, along with Mr. R. Sehgal. Their visit aimed to strengthen ties between the academic and industrial sectors and to provide valuable insights into students regarding industry expectations and practices.
Visit to the Department of Footwear Technology
Mr. Dawar and Mr. Sehgal visited the pavilion of the Department of Footwear Technology, Faculty of Engineering, where they appreciated the various products designed and developed by students. They interacted with the students, inquiring about the quality of raw materials, production costs, and manufacturing processes. The students effectively responded to their queries, showcasing their technical knowledge and innovative approach.
Visit to CART (Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development)
Following their tour of the Footwear Technology Department, the delegation proceeded to the CART (Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development) Stall. They closely examined the products displayed and emphasized the importance of maintaining high-quality standards.
Recommendations and Industry Support
During their interaction with students and faculty, Mr. Dawar suggested a practical training model, wherein students would undergo three weeks of hands-on factory experience following a one-week theoretical course at the institute. This approach aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial application, ensuring students acquire practical skills essential for the industry.
Later, the delegation met with the Director of the institute, where Mr. Dawar and Mr. Sehgal reaffirmed AFMEC’s full support in facilitating the industry readiness of students. They assured their commitment to providing necessary industry exposure, training opportunities, and potential career pathways for students.
