Invited Talk on Growth opportunities in Footwear sector for the students taken by General Manager of Metro & Metro at Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Dept. of Footwear Technology)

The Department of Footwear technology at Dayalbagh Educational Institute hosted an insightful invited talk on the dynamic and ever-evolving footwear industry. The session was led by Mr. R.K. Sharma, [General Manager – Metro & Metro, Agra] and Gurdev Prasad, [Floor Manager – Metro & Metro, Agra] who addressed an enthusiastic audience of students, sharing valuable knowledge and perspectives on the future of the footwear sector and its promising growth opportunities.

The event began with a warm welcome from the Head of the Department, [Prof. D.K. Chaturvedi], who introduced the esteemed guest and emphasized the importance of industry engagement in shaping students' professional outlook. Mr. R.K sharma took the stage and delivered an engaging lecture that covered key aspects of the footwear industry, its trends, challenges, and opportunities.

  • The lecture shed light on career prospects available to both male and female students in the footwear sector, highlighting roles in design, marketing, production, retail, and supply chain management.
  • Special emphasis was placed on the increasing inclusivity in the industry and the unique opportunities emerging for women to lead and innovate in various domains.

    • Mr. R.K Sharma emphasized the importance of collaborations between academic institutions and the footwear industry to foster innovation and provide students with hands-on experience.

  • One of the most inspiring segments of the lecture was Mr. Sharma’s focus on the bright future for female students in the footwear sector. He encouraged female students to explore diverse roles in the industry, such as product design, quality assurance, and leadership positions. Citing real-world examples, he emphasized how inclusivity and diversity are becoming central to the industry's growth strategy.

Drawing from his extensive experience as a Store Manager, he shared practical insights into the day-to-day challenges and strategies for efficient leather outsourcing and identifications points in manufacturing units. He also highlighted the importance of teamwork, precision, and adherence to quality standards in achieving organizational goals
