CONNECT PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT EDUCATION
(CO-PRIM-e)*
DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT, DEI
*About the acronym, “CO-PRIM-e”: CO-PRIM-e (to be pronounced as Co-Prime) signifies togetherness (CO-)of the relevant stakeholders (i.e., institute, industry, students and society) in achieving (Prime) position by the Department of Management in the field of management. The ‘e’ in the end signifies the important role that e-platform of DEI would play in achieving this goal.
The Management Program at the Dayalbagh Education Institute conceived the project ‘CO-PRIM-e’ based on the inspiration from its Visionary Leadership. The program is a part of the ‘Vision 2031’ program which envisions making DEI a top teaching and research institute by the year 2031. This envisages the future of the institute into imparting online modular and cooperative education to a large no. of students. It coincides with the efforts of DEI to transform its physical campus into e-DEI-de, which stands for e-DEI-distance education.
The nature of business education is dynamic because the business environment is becoming more and more complex. Technology, economics and market dynamics are deeply inter-connected. The Department of Management at DEI understands that academic institutions need to recognize changes in market place and take proactive steps to ensure that their degree programs remain relevant and competitive. Today’s business manager is required to assimilate leads of information and data, develop actionable insights at tremendous speed and perform as part of large teams, often spread across geographies and time zones. With this increasing complexity, managers are no longer distanced from customers. Everyone in the organization, regardless of position and role is now a salesperson and customer service associate.
In order to pursue this larger and relevant role, the Department of Management is planning a radical shift to form an effective connect of all the courses offered by the department with the industry and society at large. In the past, this connect has always been there in the form of attracting faculties form the industry, encouraging students and staff to work on the live projects of the industry and offering business consultancy to the industry and society at large. The ‘CO-PRIM-e’ program is an extension of these efforts with special emphasis on cooperative form of education utilizing e-platform of DEI.
