TAPCHI WORK OF CHIKANKARI

This is a running stitch worked on the right side of the fabric. It is occasionally done within parallel rows to fill petals and leaves in a motif, called Ghaspatti. Sometimes Taipchi is used to make belbuti designs all over the fabric. This is the simplest Chikan stitch and often serves as a basis for further embellishment. It resembles jamdani work and is considered the cheapest and quickest stitch.

One can see a basic similarity in Indian and Mexican culture not only in their motifs, religious symbols and colours.

KUTEH EMBROIDERY

Kutch, situation in the border region of Gujarat state is a drought prone area which is famous for the mirror work embroidery done by the native women. Specific stitches are done in the define sequence to create a particular style of embroidery various tribes/communities of Kutch have a specific usage of embroidery of various kinds, and traditional dresses, Turbans, shawls and other accessories.
