LIBRARY RULES FOR READERS

1.      These rules supersede all previous rules or instructions including those which are printed on the library cards and book-card pockets. The library is to be treated as a facility for borrowing/consulting/referring/E-accessing etc. of required information. Students should not mind security check of their belongings by the library staff. Library is for the service of all. No one should misuse it for serving one’s own ends only.

2.      After admission and depositing University Fee students are allowed to be the member of Library. For each Library Member will get a Library Reader’s Ticket / Library Identity Card.

3.      The Library Reader’s Ticket is non-transferable and must be protected from lost, theft, mutilation, wear & tear etc. You should treat it just like a blank cheque. In the absence of it the Library facility will not be possible.

4.      Student may borrow 2,4 and 6 reading material (2 books for Undergraduate, 4 books for postgraduate / M Phil and 6 books for PhD students) at a time. 1st year Undergraduate students will get one Interfaculty card to borrow reading material from other libraries.

5.      Before entering in the library kept your bag on the property counter at your own risk, except money, jewelry, and other valuable things. Library will not be responsible for any theft.

6.      Discipline and decorum should be maintained in the library. You should maintain a pin drop silence. The use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited.

7.      Reference material like Encyclopedias, Yearbooks, Journals, thesis, dissertations, etc. will not be issued at all.

8.      Reading material will be issued for a period of 15 days and renewed once on request if not in demand. Material may be recalled if, urgently required for any purpose even before the expiry date.

9.      Late return of borrowed material only means that you are depriving others of using them. Material may borrowed or returned on any working day. Material must be returned on or before the due date, otherwise, a per day fine of Re. 1.00 will be charged.

10.     Before getting the book issued, pl. check for torn pages. Otherwise you will have to replace the book or pay fine.

11.     Issue of material will be stopped as soon as the preparation leave starts; then every student will surrender all the material before getting clearance for appearing at the end semester examination in May.

12.     In case of loss of Reader Ticket the following action will be taken by the student –

a) Immediately report the lost card to the librarian.

b) Duplicate Reader Ticket will not be ordinarily issued.

c) Any material issued on the lost card will be charged from the student.

13.     In case of loss of material the following action will be taken by the student -

a) Report the lost material to the librarian.

b) Try to replace the material within a week of information.

c) If one fails to replace the material he/she must deposit the current price plus late fine if any.

14.     Dog-earing the pages of a book, marking or writing therein with any means, tearing or taking out its pages or otherwise damaging it, will be a serious offence. A disciplinary action will be taken, if found involved in such act.

15.     In case of any suggestion, difficulty or complaints first approach the concerned person, then section in-charge then Librarian, however, if not satisfied he/she may drop their complaint in the Library’s suggestion/complaint box.

16.      If any reader found his/her requirement for a particular information, book, journal etc. he/she may drop their requirement in the Library’s suggestion box.
