Centres within Schools of Education

To propel this mission forward, we have set up two Centres at DEI focussed on thrust areas having the potential to bring about this change and prepare learners for the future:

  1. Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Education (CAIE)
  2. Centre for Knowledge Acquisition, Retention and Transformation through Visual and  Performing Arts, Meditation and Brain Based Learning (C- KART)

CENTRE FOR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN EDUCATION

Our Vision for CAIE

‘To transform the educational landscape by providing open access to quality, value-based and socially relevant education to all by harnessing the disruptive potential of Artificial Intelligence.’

The CAIE pursues the goal of identifying and tracking the developments in AI and related fields of knowledge, with a view to benefit the educational system.

Aiming to enable the members of the education community to lead and practice the integration of AI in teaching, learning and assessment with a holistic approach, the focus of CAIE is on developing their instructional, organizational and management skills for using AI-based technologies, rather than making them master the complex technical details of AI.

The CAIE aims at orienting teachers of all levels about the fundamentals of AI and its applications in Education, preparing teachers for implementing AI curricula in schools, facilitating integration of AI tools in classroom teaching to meet the educational challenges and customizing AI technologies to improve the quality of teaching learning process.

The CAIE focuses on the three main domains in education:

  • Content:Content Enrichment, Multilingual Content
  • Pedagogy:Collaborative learning, Virtual Learning,Tutoring Systems Learning Pathways
  • Assessment:Attention Monitoring, Question-Answer Generation, Automated Grading

CENTRE FOR KNOWLEDGE ACQUISITION, RETENTION AND TRANSFORMATION
through Visual and Performing Arts, Meditation and Brain Based Learning

Our Vision for C-KART

‘To evolve a system of education which enhances the potential of every learner to acquire, retain and transform knowledge leading to a wisdom society through creative, experiential and joyful modes of learning embedded in the findings of brain based research.’

The C-KART essentially revolves around the need of the education system to thrive in the complexities of cultural pluralism and sustainable living in the 21st century and beyond.

With the advent of technology and explosion of knowledge, the goal of education is to create a class of learners who are not merely ‘possessors of knowledge’ but ‘transformers of knowledge’.  Education now seeks to build wisdom, a higher (transcendental) consciousness and develop skills to aid learners rise above the challenges of present and become leaders in setting desired trends for future.

The focus of the centre is on a system which caters to each and every child and brings about complete development encompassing emotional, social, intellectual, aesthetic and spiritual dimensions. The outcome will be learners with Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), Aesthetic and Social Sensibilities& Moral and Spiritual Values.

The Centre aims at evolving practices which involve creativity, experiential and joyful learning derived from research on the study of brain and how it learns, to achieve the goal of delivering a holistic education. The modes of learning, essentially non-conventional, deployedby the Centre are broadly classified into three categories:

  • Visual & Performing Arts:Painting, Murals, Graphics, Calligraphy,Films, Photography, Sculpture, Clay Modelling, Theatre, Dance and Music
  • Meditation & Allied Practices:Chakra Meditation, Mindfulness, Guided Meditation, Attention Regulation, Quiet Contemplation and  Self –Introspection
  • Brain Based Learning:Mind Maps, Collaborative Learning, Discovery Labs
