TWO DAY LECTURE CUM DEMONSTRATION ON ‘INTEGRATION OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ART IN EDUCATION’ (May 6 to 7, 2019)
Experts of different fields of visual and performing art from DIET, Agra were invited as resource persons. Participants included 40 pre-service teachers of Diploma in Elementary Education, who learnt different ways of integrating music, drama and puppetry in teaching -learning process. Participants learned to prepare collage, paintings, finger puppets, gloves puppets and paper bag puppets, which they presented as integral part of lesson planning.
FOUR DAY NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON 'TEACHING THROUGH VISUAL AND PERFORMING ART'
(May 16 to 19, 2019)
A four day National Workshop was organized with experts Prof. Pawan Sudhir (NCERT), Dr. Ashok Arora (SCERT, Delhi) and Dr. Sulekha Bhargava (Artist, Satya Global Society, Delhi). They gave demo lessons and trained the participants by learning by doing in integration of Visual and Performing Art including Music and Drama in teaching of various subjects. 55 participants including teacher educators, university teachers, in-service teachers, pre-service teachers and research scholars attended the workshop and actively demonstrated their learning.
TEN DAY NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON ‘FUNDAMENTALS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN
EDUCATION’ (May 22 to 31, 2019)
The workshop on Artificial Intelligence was designed on the basis of the new course “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence in Education” which is going to be implemented in B.Ed. programme of DEI from session 2019-20. The objective of the workshop was to expose the participants to the underlying process of these fundamental concepts of AI and make them aware of its applications in various fields and to develop a positive attitude for further exploration. Keeping in mind the objectives
of the workshop, the schedule for ten days having three sessions for each day was prepared. 20 resource persons were invited from different fields of Artificial Intelligence and Education. 160 participants attended the workshop which was based on lecture-demonstration and hands on experience.
FIVE DAYS NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON INTEGRATING PUPPETRY IN TEACHING-LEARNING- A FUN
WAY TO LEARN (June 3 to 7, 2019)
In the first three days, experts recommended by Centre for Cultural Resource and Training, New Delhi (CCRT) trained the participants in the construction and application of various forms of Puppetry .Mr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, Graphic Assistant, from CIET, NCERT, Delhi exhibited the use of puppets in awareness drives, constructing puppets out of waste materials , newspapers and used tins and plastics. Mrs. Vandana Gupta, freelance artist, founder of Pratayksha Theatre also working with CCRT, Delhi, demonstrated details of making shadow puppets, their movements behind the screen and their presentation using the screen, lights and voice modulation. Mr. O.P. Sharma from CCRT Delhi, a nationally and internationally recognized trainer in mask making and puppetry art form displayed various kinds of masks such as face mask, eye mask and head mask and also discussed their purpose in classroom teaching. Dr. Kalpana Gupta and Dr. Shweta Agarwal, Assistant Professors in Education, DEI, gave a combined presentation on ‘Orientation to Puppetry and its Future’ On day four the participants divided into groups, presented their lessons from NCERT text books prepared with the integration of puppetry. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Saini (Assistant Professor , Department of Performing Arts, theatre and drama in Mewar University, Chhitorgarh) discussed the theoretical and practical aspects of puppetry art form. He emphasized synchronization and voice modulation in puppetry. He said that character should be in sync with the story and elements of drama and voice are very important in making it successful. In the post lunch session Dr. Mudit Pandey (MPS Vedic University, Ujjain) gave a presentation on ‘Voice modulation technique and puppetry’. 260 participants including 115 in -service teachers and 145 preservice teachers enthusiastically practiced making and working of puppets masks, preparing puppet based lesson plans and their applications in classroom.
FIVE DAY WORKSHOP ON ART INTEGRATED TEACHING LEARNING
(June 8 to 12, 2019)
A five day workshop was conducted at Rajni Public Senior Secondary School, Dibai, Distt. Bulandshahar, UP affiliated to CBSE by Dr Kalpana Gupta, Assistant Professor, Drawing and Painting, Faculty of Education, DEI, Agra. She oriented the participants about the use of different visual and performing art to make teaching interesting. The five day workshop included training and presentation on mask making, poster making, teaching with mime, role playing and short skit. A special session
on use of puppetry and music in teaching was conducted with renowned musician Mr Sunil Kumar Sharma. 36 In-service Teachers participated in the workshop and developed material for teaching.
