With the modest inception in 1988 with the certificate program, 1991 saw the introduction of PG Diploma in Textile Designing under Department of Drawing and Painting, from where the journey started, today Textile Designing is being run in 16 centres around the country.
With excellent placements, 1 Phd desertation MHRD vovational project, UGC minor research project, 175 research desertations completed, more than 25 exhibitions held, numerous national and international dignitaries visit to see the high standard of work being taught here.
The mode and sequence of presentation of the course material for various courses is extremely innovative, for practicals the students are first shown DVDs prepared in house. In the course of theoretical lessons the students are given hand outs and the lectures are through discussions and interaction which is supported by latest audio visual aids making learning fun. The students work with digitizers and their softwares pallet is CorelDraw and Photoshop.
150 DVDs and 10 books have been produced in four languages.
The faculty has designed course curriculum for four states, written five books, 15 papers, presenting, cheering national and international seminars, workshops, conferences, winning award for best paper presentation. Consultancy work has been extended to Government of India small scale industry and Hast Shilp Vikas Nigam Madhya Pradesh.
