Prof Sangita Saini is the Head of Home Science Department and has a vast experience of Research which is more community driven. Being committed to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence and with a forward-thinking approach, she has  embraced various  changes in the way Home Science is  thought about and over time has brought about continuous improvement in the department. Intending to have an impactful community and need-oriented research, she has completed various projects. 

She has effectively mentored women skilling leading to formation of various women Self Help Groups which are directed towards skilling for a livelihood. With a dedicated team of department  she not only meets regular day to day life  challenges but also delivers outcomes that make a meaningful difference.

Prof. Verma has been teaching Indian Writings in English, Indian Composition / Functional English, Journalism, Literary Criticism and Approaches to Literature. His research interests are Indian Writings in English, Comparative Studies, Systems Approach to Literature, Application of Theories, Cultural Studies and Functional English. He has authored 4 books, a number of research papers and popular articles. Currently, he is the Chief Editor, Literary Paritantra (Systems): An International Journal on Literature and Theory, Chief Editor, DEI News, Chief Editor, DEI Magazine (all with ISSN Nos.).

Dr. Gurpyari Jandial teaches Modern Drama, Modern Fiction, History of English Literature and Literary Movements, and Grammar & Language Courses in the department as well as in other departments of the Institute at UG and PG levels. Her research interests are Feminism and Gender Studies, Women's Studies, Indian English Fiction and Afro-American Women's Novels. She has 8 research publications to her credit.

She presented the paper entitled, ‘Transforming Cultural Identities: A Study in Punjabi Diasporic Experience in Britain with special reference to Meera Syal’s Anita and Me and Life Isn’t all Ha HaHeeHee, and Sandhya Suri’s I for India’.
  2. Gur Pyari Jandial was invited to deliver a talk on ‘Consciousness  and Language’ as part of the lecture series in the course  “Basic Neuro and Cognitive Science’ organized by the Center for Consciousness Studies, DEI from July, 2012 to January, 2013.
