Dr. Rahul Caprihan is Professor & Head in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He holds a Bachelors and a Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the DEI, and a Masters Degree in Production and Industrial Engineering from the University of Roorkee (now Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee), India. Professor Caprihan's research interests are in Flexible Manufacturing Systems, Virtual Cellular Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Discrete Simulation, Fuzzy Logic, Particle Swarm and Quantum Computing applications in the performance modelling and analysis of FMS / VCM / SCM Systems. His publications have appeared in several International / National conferences and journals including the International Journal of Flexible Manufacturing Systems, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Computers and Industrial Engineering, Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Systems, International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, Journal of Advances in Management Research, and the DEIJSER. Over the years, his research has been supported by different funding agencies including the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
Professor Caprihan has been an Associate Editor on the board of the International Journal of Flexible Manufacturing Systems, Springer, is on the Editorial Board as a Member of the International Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, USA, and is the Editor (Engineering and Technology) of the DEI Journal of Science and Engineering Research. He has been a Program Committee Member and / or Session Chair for several International / National Conferences, and has served as an ad-hoc referee for many international and national journals of repute.
Professor Caprihan has been a BOYSCAST Visiting Scholar to the University of Michigan’s Ross Business School, Ann Arbor, USA from 1998 through 1999, a Visiting Researcher at the School of Engineering and Technology, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand in 2006, has twice been a Visiting Professor at the Lean Operations Research Centre at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, from January through July in 2009, and then again from May through June, 2010. He was a Visiting Professor at the HAN University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands from May through June, 2014, and then again from May through June, 2018. Professor Caprihan is the Coordinator of the DEI Entrepreneurship Virtual Incubation Cell at DEI. He spearheaded the Training & Placement initiatives in the Faculty of Engineering, DEI, from 2004 till 2015; he was the Coordinator of the Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program at DEI from its inception in 2013 to 2020.
Professor Caprihan is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India).
About the Department: The Department supports Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral Programmes. At the UG and PG levels a broad-based course structure enables the students to acquire core competence and specialization in the fields of Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Thermal Engineering, and Design Engineering by way of core courses, electives, and focused projects. The excellent performance of the students in competitive examinations including the GATE , CAT, GRE etc is a strong pointer to the quality of the broad-based education imparted. An innovative and unique M. Tech. Programme in "Engineering Systems" is jointly conducted with the Electrical Engineering Department. The programme is designed to inculcate in the students the 'Systems' way of thinking. Development of such a systemic viewpoint enriches the mindset of the students to address real life problems in a holistic manner. At the research level, the department has a prominent presence in the following diverse fields of Mechanical Engineering: Flexible, Virtual Cellular & Lean Manufacturing Systems, Intelligent & Additive Manufacturing, Energy Systems, Bio-Medical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Decision Support Systems. |

Department of Civil Engineering
Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering at Faculty of Engineering, Dayalbagh Educational Institute. Since its inception in 2013, the Department is committed towards the academic and professional enrichment of students, service to the engineering community and society, and encourages advancements in Civil Engineering and allied fields. The Department has a well-defined academic program, dynamic young faculty, state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities and an active industry-institute interaction.
The Department currently offers a four-year course leading to the Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Civil Engineering / Architectural Technology / Computer Science. Our students take advantage of classroom opportunities for collaborative learning to explore core engineering fundamentals and to propose fresh ideas for solving real-world problems. Students also benefit from innovative curricula and a teamwork approach of the Department facilitating project based learning.
Besides academic enrichment of students, the program also emphasizes on interdisciplinary team work, communication skills, entrepreneurial skills, tools and skills for professional practice and lifelong learning. We strive to ensure that our graduates understand professional ethics and the value of service to their profession and society.
The Department has a number of ongoing research projects. The Department also takes up industrial consultancy works and boasts of a strong industrial partnership. The Civil Engineering Department in association with Faculty of Architecture is also exploring avenues in construction of class-rooms using bamboo and other sustainable technologies. The Department is continually upgrading itself in terms of academic programs and research infrastructure.

Department of Electrical Engineering
The Department supports Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral Programmes. At the UG and PG level a broad-based course structure enables the students to acquire core competence and specialization in the fields of Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Electronics and Computer Science by way of core courses, electives, and focused projects. The effectiveness of the programmes is indicated by the excellent performance of our students in competitive examinations such as GATE, CAT, GRE etc. Further, the fact that the students score very high percentile (>99 percentile) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering and Computer Science clearly show the superiority of the broad-based programme followed by the Department.
An innovative and unique M. Tech. Programme in "Engineering Systems" is jointly conducted with the Mechanical Engineering Department. The programme is designed to inculcate in the students the 'Systems' way of thinking. Development of such a systemic viewpoint enriches the mindset of the students to address real life problems in a holistic manner.
At the research level the Department has focused on cutting edge soft computing technologies and their applications in diverse fields of Electrical Engineering. The current research interests can be classified into the following broad disciplines: Systems Engineering, Signal Processing, Power Systems, Soft Computing & Quantum Algorithms, Mobile Telecommunication Networks, Search Based Software Engineering and Electrical Drives.

Dr. D.K. Chaturvedi, joined Faculty of Engineering, D.E.I., Dayalbagh, Agra, in 1989 as Lecturer, and became Professor in 2005. He did his B.E. from Govt. Engineering College Ujjain, M.P., followed by M.Tech. and Ph.D. from D.E.I., Dayalbagh, in 1993 and 1998 respectively. He is gold medallist and received Young Scientists BOYSCAST Fellowship from DST, Government of India in 2001-2002 for post doctorial research at Univ. of Calgary, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Fellow - Aeronautical Society of India, Fellow –Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Sr. Member IEEE, USA, member IEE, U.K. and Member of many National and International professional bodies such as JILTA, Kolkata, ISTE, Delhi, , ISCE, Roorkee, IIIE, Mumbai, SSI, etc. In recognition of his contribution in his field of specialization, The Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata, has conferred many awards upon him, including, among others, the Tata Rao Medal Award, U.P. State Power Sector Award, Mossaudi Lal Award, etc. The ADRDE, a research lab of DRDO working in the field of Aerial Delivery, has conferred upon him a Life Time Achievement Award for his valuable contributions in the field of Aeronautics. He is a consultant of DRDO. The Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, New Delhi, has given a letter of appreciation to Prof. D.K. Chaturvedi for his work in improvement of working conditions of people in glass industry at Firozabad. His name is included in Marquis Who’s Who in Engineering and Science in Asia – 2006-2007, Marquis Who’s Who in Engineering and Science in America 2006-07 and Marquis Who’s Who in World – 2006-2007. He has completed many R&D projects of MHRD, UGC, AICTE, etc. in addition to consultancy projects of DRDO. He has contributed to the National Mission of ICT of Govt. of India as Virtual Power Lab Developer. Prof. Chaturvedi has authored three books and 55 contributed chapters. He has published more than 500 research papers in international and national peer reviewed journals, transactions and conferences. He had 1 Indian patent published and four filed. Presently He is Professor in Electrical Engineering, Head of the Department of Footwear Technology, Training and Placement Officer of D.E.I. and Chief Advisor, IEI Students’ Chapter. |
About the Department:
The Department of Footwear Technology supports Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral Programmes. At the UG and PG levels a broad-based course structure enables the students to acquire core competence and specialization in the fields of Shoe Designing, Ergonomics of Shoes, Orthopaedic Footwear, Footwear production, testing, fabrication, packaging and marketing. Agra, especially Dayalbagh, has deep roots in the leather and footwear sector. Dayalbagh, as an institution, has been offering a certificate course in Leather and Footwear Technology since 1927. Diploma in Leather and Footwear Technology was started in 2004, and in 2014 a B.Tech. program in Footwear Technology was introduced. The Department of Footwear Technology has strong collaborations with many local, national and international renowned footwear industries. State-of-the-art computer aided footwear design lab and a full-fledged E.V.A shoes and chappal manufacturing plant have been established in the Footwear Technology department.
An innovative and unique interdisciplinary M.Tech. Programme in "Engineering Systems" is jointly offered for Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, footwear and aerospace engineers. The programme is designed to inculcate in the students the 'Systems' way of thinking. Development of such a systemic viewpoint enriches the mindset of the students to address real life problems in a holistic manner.
At the research level, the department has a prominent presence in the following diverse fields of Engineering: Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, Bio-Medical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Decision Support Systems, Artificial engineering and machine learning, Computer aided engineering. The Department focuses on earn while learn scheme for students under which low cost EVA shoes and Chappals are manufactured. The department is gradually moving towards the intelligent walking technology.
