Dr. Poornima Jain holds a M.A., M.Phil. and a Ph.D. degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She also holds M.Sc. in Ecology & Environment from Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, New Delhi. Her teaching interests are Social Change, Sociology of Development, Sociological Theories, Sociology of Religion, and Sociology of Thought. Her research interests include Human Rights, Dalit Studies, and Religion. She has a vast administrative experience as Head of the Department for 15 years. She has already served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences for one term previously. Professor Poornima Jain also has been a Gold Medalist at the Post Graduate level and has 9 research publications to her credit. She has taught various courses like Social Change, Social Demography, Social Statistics, Rural Sociology, Sociology of Development in India, Sociological Theories, Sociology of Development, Sociology of Religion, Contemporary Sociological Theories, Indian Classics, Sociology of Human Rights, Sociological Thought, Research Methodology, Indian Sociological Thinkers, Classical Sociologists (Western).
