Modules on MOM& SP Programme

Introduction:

The institute is running two one year vocational Certificate programmes viz. Modern Office management & Secretarial practice (MOM&SP) and Office Assistant cum Computer Operator (OACO). It has been observed that about sixty percent of the syllabus is common in these two programmes emphasizing on communication and computer skills. Further , is has been observed that there are four courses, which are offered in MOM & SP but not offered in AOCO programme.

These four are converted into four modules. Two each on Shorthand and Accounting Management are designed for the students of Office Management and Computer Operator, so that they can have extra skills of taking dictation and typing it on computer and maintain the accounts of an organisation.

There four modules are basically four courses of the Modern office management & Secretarial Practice certificate programme. Two elementary courses on Shorthand and Accounting & Management are offered in the first semester and the remaining two advance courses are offered in the second semester. A student who is undergoing OACO programme may additionally opt for these four modules and can get additional certificate of modern office Management & Secretarial Practice. Modularization of the programme will pave the way for flexibility and attract the students.

Module II: Accounting & Management –I

In this module, a student will be taught the Accounting and Management. The course will cover the fundamentals of Accounting and Management, The module on Fundamentals of Accounting and Management. The module on Fundamentals of Accounting and management will be beneficial for those who passed intermediate from Arts or science stream. This theory is of 3 credits and will be of one semester duration. Internal assessment of 150 marks and assessment by external examiner will be of 50 marks as over the standards of the institute. The topics covered in this course are- accounting Overview, Management Concepts, Office Organization, Business Finance, and Computer in Accounting.

Module IV: Accounting & management – II

In this module, a student will be taught some advance topics of the Accounting and Management. The second module on Fundamentals of Accounting and management introduces the use of computer in the accounting system. This theory course is of 3 credits and will be of one semester duration. Internal assessment of 150 marks and assessment by external examiner will be of 50 marks as per the standards of the institute. The components of internal assessment are same as followed for the theory courses of the Institute. The topics covered broadly in this course are: Organizations & Documents, Office Secretary, Meetings, Banking, and Reporting: An Overview.

Semester I

Module I: Shorthand –I

 In this module, a student will be taught English Shorthand. The course will cover the concepts of English shorthand and its elementary portion. The module of shorthand will cover the concepts of English shorthand and its elementary portion. The module of Shorthand will be beneficial for those who wish to seek employment in Government organization. This practical course is of 3 credits and will be of 50 marks. The components of internal assessment are same as followed for the practical courses of the Institute. The topics covered in this course are- Consonants & vowels , Diphthongs, Phraseography, Aspirates, Circles , Loops, Hooks, Diphonic, Halving , doubling, Prefixes and Suffixes.

Semester II

Module III: Shorthand – II

In this module, as student will be taught advance topics of English Shorthand. More emphasis is laid on practice and the terms used in various government departments. This practical course is of 3 credits and will be of one semester duration. Internal assessment of 150 marks and assessment by external examiner will be of 50 marks. The components of internal assessment are same as followed for the practical courses of the Institute. The topics covered in this course are- Grammalogues, Phrases used in the offices and departments of Judiciary, Banks Railways ; cities currencies etc.

Thus the student after completing this module is supposed to acquire the skill of taking dictation, producing the same on computer by transcribing and producing the same on computer by typing.

Course 1: Solar Photovoltaic Energy and battery storage

Course 2: Solar Power Electronics and wiring

A:   10- Week Modular Course on Bamboo Application Technology

The ten-week modular course entitled Bamboo Application Technology has been designed to generate workforce for the bamboo sector, i.e. bamboo based building, furniture, handicrafts, bamboo-based industries, etc.

The eligibility criteria for this short-term course is 7th pass and the medium of instruction is Hindi. The first Study Centre to host this modular course was Rajaborari, Distt. Harda, Madhya Pradesh, where it was conducted from Jan 1, 2014 onwards.

Students successfully completing the course shall be able to:

  • Identify various types of bamboos with respect to species, age, color, internodes, thickness, harvesting, etc.;
  • Select suitable type of bamboo for various uses like handicrafts, buildings, bridges, industries etc.;
  • Select suitable species for plantations in various climatic zones and for various purposes;
  • Raise a bamboo plantation – planting, management, harvesting etc.
  • Select suitable treatment options for protection against biodegradation of bamboo for various uses;
  • Implement simple craft based works;
  • Collect, record and use traditional and indigenous methods of working with bamboo;
  • Construct simple bamboo structures – both permanent and temporary i.e. tents, pavilions, houses, bridges etc.;
  • Find employment in various bamboo based industries;
  • Setup small scale entrepreneurial unit;
  • Acquire knowledge and skill to manage building and other such projects independently.

Following employment opportunities are envisages for certificate holders in bamboo technology:

  • As a self employed person starting a small scale industry;
  • As a contactor/ supervisor for bamboo building, structures etc;
  • As an employee in the several bamboo based industries like Bamboo ply & boards, flooring, roofing, furniture, etc  in the country;
  • As a teacher;
  • As a social worker;
  • As an employee in the disaster management organizations i.e. NGO , government agencies , International organizations;
  • As an employee with various State Bamboo Missions across the country;
  • As an employee in the Architectural and Interior Design Organization;
  • As a supervisor of various bamboo based products which is a growing market.
