
Mr. Padam Das is actively involved in research and teaching since 1977. He teaches Practical aspects of Manufacturing Processes I & II (Workshop Practice I & II), Product Manufacturing Projects, Production Engg. Lab., Design Engg. and Theme Development Project, and Rural Engg. Project. He has invented the “Spherical Turning Tool for Lathe Machine”. His significant contributions include design and development of an Improved Photo Therapy Unit for Treatment of Jaundice in Infants, Pedal-driven Fodder Cutting Machine - A Remedy for Arthritis, Gear Profile Testing Apparatus, Operator’s Slide Rule for Workshop Calculations, 33 kV Sub-station LT Panel Assembly, Cutting Machine for Press, and Low-cost bicycle seats for small children. He has also offered his professional consultancy services to various industries and several Engineering institutions in and around Agra. His research interests include Advanced Non-traditional Machining Techniques, Mechanical Fabrications, Metal Machining, Intelligent Manufacturing, and Foundry Technology. He has 10 publications to his credit in the various journals and conferences. He has successfully completed two R&D projects granted by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He is a Life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education, the Indian Society for Continuing Engineering Education, and the Systems Society of India. He is also a member of The Institution of Engineers (India).
