Dr. Gurumukh Das is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed to be University), Agra. He holds a Ph.D. in Virtual Cellular Manufacturing (VCM) and possesses fifteen years of teaching experience along with eighteen years of research experience in production engineering.

His research interests include advanced non-traditional machining processes, VCM, automated and intelligent manufacturing systems, mechanical fabrication, foundry technology, ergonomics, and the application of soft computing and AI/ML techniques in manufacturing. A notable research contribution is the design and development of a rotary tool attachment for Dry EDM, through which the machining of extremely hard two-phase composite materials has been successfully demonstrated with improved machining performance characteristics.

Dr. Das has authored over forty research papers and book chapters published in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and edited volumes. He also holds thirteen granted design patents.

He has been involved in sponsored research and development, including a Department of Science and Technology, Government of India-funded project titled “Experimentation, Modelling, and Optimization of Eco-friendly Rotary Furnace Castings Using LDO, Gas, and Biofuels,” sanctioned under the prestigious Ramanna Fellowship Scheme. He actively participates in faculty development programs, short-term courses, workshops, training programs, and webinars as part of his continuous professional development.

Dr. Das has received multiple awards and recognitions. He was conferred the Swami Vivekanand Award for Outstanding Contribution for his service as National Service Scheme (NSS) Program Officer (2012–2015). Then Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh felicitated him on National Voters’ Day (January 25, 2014). He also received the Most Distinguished Paper Award at the 2nd National Conference on Innovative Product Design and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IPDIMS-2021), organized by NIT Rourkela, and served as co-convener of the UGC-SAP-sponsored National Seminar on Lean Manufacturing Systems (LMS-2016).

He is a Fellow of the Indian Society of Mechanical Engineers (ISME) and a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and the Systems Society of India (SSI). He is also a Member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), a corporate member of The Institution of Engineers (India), and a Chartered Engineer (CEng India). He holds several key administrative responsibilities, including Chief Proctor of the Faculty of Engineering, Convener of the Inter-Faculty Basketball Tournament, and In-Charge of the Faculty Basketball Team and the Drawing Section of the Faculty of Engineering.
